ALASKA WOMEN ORGANIZE
COURAGE TO CHANGE~OUR SURROUNDINGS
ByDee Gould
“The amount of information available…continues to grow at a rapid pace, as do the number of demands on our time. Organized people save time and money, and reduce their stress and frustration levels.” From the NAPO website www.napo.net
Ideally our home is our sanctuary. It is our safe place; a place to renew, rest, and enjoy. It is a haven to contain and protect our physical belongings and loved ones. When our homes have clutter and disorganization it can negatively affect the lives of all who live there. Making the emotional, mental, physical and indeed, even spiritual decision to organize one’s home can be beneficial in many ways:
Reduce stress
Have more time for enjoyable activities
Save space
Save time
Save money by avoiding duplicate buying
Live comfortably, entertain guests
Feel better
Think more clearly
It takes courage to make the decision to claim your space by taking control of your home environment. Even five to fifteen minutes a day dedicated to clear clutter, put items away, or file papers can make a difference in as little as a week. Setting a timer can help offset the feeling of being overwhelmed and not having enough time. New habits take intention followed by action.
“Organization is a process, not a state achieved in one day. Think about it as “being organized” or “staying organized,” not “getting organized.”
Different methods are available. Try searching the internet for ‘home organizing’ to see what might be a good fit for you.
Remember: Progress, not perfection.
Happy organizing!
